Philip Boyd - Biography

Philip Boyd grew up about 25 miles Southeast of Atlanta, in a small town called Conyers, GA. His first taste of show business was in a show called "In The Heat of the Night" which filmed close by to where he grew up. He grew up playing baseball, football and wrestling. After graduating Rockdale County High School in 1993 he played baseball for a traveling team for a short while in hopes of following in his great grandfather, Dave Harris, who played professional baseball back in 1932. Philip's love for the arts moved him to Los Angeles in 1995 where he landed his first professional acting job working along Michelle Williams, James Naughton and Mel Harris in the pilot "Raising Caines". Since then, Philip has appeared on several TV shows and has worked with such actors as Christina Ricci, Katie Holmes, Bette Midler and Holly Hunter, who is also a native of Conyers, Ga. Philip has also been in several movies where he shared a Best Ensemble Cast award for his role as Matt in "29 Reasons To Run" at the Bare Bones Film Festival in 2006. Boyd also received a Best Supporting Actor nominee for his work in "Clones Gold Wild" at the 2009 Action on Film Festival. In late 2011, Philip took some time away from acting when he learned that his older brother David Boyd was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma. Unfortunately, on January 4, 2012, David's battle with cancer ended. After returning to Los Angeles, Philip has been hard at work. He guest starred on a show called Mixology, played a supporting role in the film, "The Wrong Side of Right" starring James Remar and Lea Thompson and now can be seen as a heavily recurring role on Tyler Perry's "The Haves and The Have Nots" on the Own network. He just finished filming the movie Jesse and Naomi where he stars opposite Marilu Henner, Chelsey Crisp, Corbin Bernsen, and Joe Williamson.
