Préity Üupala, (pronounced "Pree-Tee",) is an Australian Actor, Entrepreneur, and Philanthropist. Originally hailing from the beautiful Bondi Beach, in Sydney, Australia; Préity Üupala has made her mark in the USA as an Entrepreneur, Humanitarian, Artist, and Visionary; based in Los Angeles, California.
As an Actor and Beauty Queen, Ms. Üupala gained fame worldwide, as the recipient of three (3) prestigious awards at the Asia Pacific Film Festival, which took place in December of 2010, in China. Her star quality has even led her to share the stage with the great actor/comedian/martial artist Jackie Chan, who presented her with the awards. Subsequently, Ms. Üupala became an overnight success with her pictures appearing on every major newspaper in the Asia-Pacific region. She also gained more international fame, following being crowned Miss India International AP 2012, in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Üupala has won previous titles such as Miss Photogenic International 2010 and Miss India Portugal in 2010. Ms. Üupala is an international model and beauty queen, who is very passionate about the environment, and also, she is involved in a number of philanthropic activities and charities around the world.
Préity Üupala is a classically trained actor, based in Los Angeles, California. Among other things, Ms. Üupala is uniquely a "method" actor and is a graduate of one of the premiere acting schools in the world: the prestigious NIDA - National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, which is the same school that produced the likes of Mel Gibson and Cate Blanchett. Ms. Üupala also trained in the Stanislavsky and Chekhov acting technique in Australia. Additionally, she has also completed the master class with Ivana Chubbuck.
Ms. Üupala is involved in a number of American and international projects. She is drawn to magnetic, powerful, and explosive characters. Her star quality or "bin tang" (as they call it in Bali,) has even led her to share the stage with the great Jackie Chan. Prior to becoming an actor, Ms. Uupala worked as an investment banker and brings another world of skill sets to the table. Moreover, she has the luxury of being in a position to also find funding for film projects.
With a mixed heritage of Indian and Portuguese ancestry, Ms. Uupala is truly international, having traveled extensively around the world and lived in Dubai, Paris, India, Sydney, and Los Angeles. Her travels around the globe to over 35 countries, has imbued her with a wide understanding of global cultures and values. She is multi-lingual and is fluent in 5 different languages.
Preity was born in Dubai, The UAE. The Uupala family traveled a lot, and preity had the luxury of visiting many exotic countries growing up, which initiated her passion for travel. At an early age her parents moved to Paris, France where she spent some time of her early childhood. She often quotes that a lot of her style and sense of fashion is derived from a Parisian influence. Uupala also spent time in India before her family moved to Sydney to finish her HSC studies. Preity broke the record for being the Youngest person to start University in Sydney when she was accepted at only 16 years of age. She graduated from Degrees in IT and Marketing (Hons) and was shortlisted for the university gold medal before she was offered a scholarship to study for a PHD at her Alma- mater. But Preity had other interests and decided to quick start her corporate life. Having worked in challenging positions for Investment banks and International Consulting Firms in Sydney, New Zealand and the UK, she planned to become a global consultant and own her own firm one day. But gave up her corporate dream to pursue a career in acting and modeling after winning several Beauty pageants and awakening her artistic talents. Ironically, today she is the CEO of her own brand and is very much an entrepreneur.
She can communicate in several languages, including her mother tongue English, as well as Arabic, Hindi, Urdu and Telgu. She can also speak conversational Thai and is learning Spanish.
She studied IT and Marketing at University of Sydney ,Australia. She was a child prodigy and at 15, was the youngest person to do her HSC, equivalent of year 12. She enrolled at University at only 16 years of age. She was an intelligent student and was inducted into the "Golden key Honor society. She was a finalist for the gold medal at her university and was offered a scholarship to study for her PHD upon graduation. She gave up a career in academia in order to work as an investment banker. She traveled all around the world and made a six figure income when she started winning several local and international beauty pageants and working as a model. It was also this time, when she awoke within her self her love of art and drama. She studied at the prestigious NIDA- National institute of dramatic arts- one of the Premieret acting schools in the world.
Preity is an Entrepreneur, Activist and Visionary who has lent her face and voice to many charity and philanthropic activities all around the world. She also sits on the board of the LA Based charity, Reading, Writing , Its exciting. In 2011, she decided to take the initiative to start her own charity, the Uupala Foundation. In the US, She has recently joined forces with 600million.org to promote awareness for the growing problem of stray dogs on the planet.
She is an ambassador for Beyond water. Org, a charity based in Africa.
She has been invited to do a salsa performance for the closing ceremony of the shanghai international film festival, in China this June 2011.
Preity is a professional Latin American dancer and has performed professionally for shows and Music Videos. She been Dancing for 7 years and is renowned for her sensual performance of contemporary Latin dancing. She was awarded the "Best Talent" for her Sexy, Sensual Salsa performance at the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant.
She founded her own charity organization; the Uupala Foundation in 2011, to benefit underprivileged children around south East Asia. She was only 16 when she started her university degree, the youngest person to enroll at university that year in Sydney, news south Wales. She holds two degrees, One in IT and the other in Marketing She was a gold medal finalist when she graduated from university and is a member of the Golden key honors society She was offered a scholarship to study for a PHD upon graduation.
