In the years since he became an actor, Remo Vinzens can look back on an extraordinary career. He has learned acting from the bottom up. Remo began with classical plays at small European Theatres and within 15 years has finally reached Hollywood's soil.
Remo was born in East Switzerland on December 22, 1975. He passed the obligatory Swiss school system and graduated from commercial school in 1994. At the age of 19 he began studying acting in Zurich and Cologne. During four years of training Remo confronted himself with all different kinds of acting techniques. Every single one had its benefit and Remo tried to combine all of them at his point of view.
In the meanwhile, he started acting on stage. The part as "Pedro" in Bertolt Brecht's "Señora Carrar's Rifles" was his first role he performed on stage. Further work followed with parts in Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Schiller and Bertolt Brecht plays. At this particular time Remo was well known for his intense portrayals of young men lost in their hopelessness, and received therefore great praises. Late 2002 he became a member of the Swiss stage artist federation.
In spring 2003 he rejected a number of long term engagements. Instead Remo was improving his character actor and for this reason he practiced with a couple of selected actors he already worked with. However, it was Oscar nominated actor Klaus Maria Brandauer who answered Remo's last issues. He offered Remo to study and train in front of the camera. A new level of vocal- and acting- intensity finally opened up. A sort of acting Remo always wanted to reach. A month later he was offered to play in "Pentagram" an independent feature movie. He agreed.
In the middle of 2004 Remo's name went abroad - more than he ever imagined and the inquiries came not only from Central Europe but also from Italy and Spain. At the end of the season 2004 Remo became a member of the Brandauer theatre Ingenuus Ensemble. Privately he dedicated as much time as possible to his other passion - painting.
He went on stage again but this time as singer as well. Comedy and singing - a combination he never tried out before, enlarged Remo's stock and he took to it. However, education which always meant a lot to Remo was now next in line. He enlarged his language skills in Italy and even stayed in a Benedictine monastery for quite a while.
In 2006 after a short time-out, Remo wrote his first script "The Chain" with Steven Sommers in between he recorded "Integration"- a comedy with Remo's voice in 12 various dialects.
In the following years he devoted himself towards classical stage plays. From Lord Byron's "Don Juan" to Eugene O'Neill's "Long Days Journey into Night" up to diverse Shakespeare stage plays. Followed by his two own production "The Inmate" and "An evening with".
In spring 2008 Remo founded along with his management partner Bettina Gantenbein. Meanwhile several feature movies has been planned and Remo continued his journey in acting.
In the following two years - Remo slowly went toward US film industry, next to his work at European theaters.
In 2008 Hollywood became attentive to Vinzens and offered him in the Camerlengo part next to Tom Hanks but Vinzens refused and went on stage instead. In 2009 Clint Eastwoodexpressed interest in Vinzens playing the part of François Pienaar in the Nelson Mandela Movie, but in the end Matt Damon got the part.
In 2012 Steven Spielberg wants Vinzens in Lincoln, but due to scheduling conflicts and production delays, the Oscar Winning Movie goes into production without him on board. Late 2012 Vinzens co-founds the Swiss Acting Institute,an open acting studio for actors who wants to be active in the international field.
At the moment he is preparing for the part of Michelangelo. An international film production about the early life of the genius Michelangelo Buonaroti in Florence. In addition it is sad, that Vinzens will portray Pablo Escobar in the Hollywood Production Killing Pablo next to Christian Bale. No production start date has been set yet. Vinzens is fluent in three languages: German, English and Italian and has acted in each. Nowadays Remo shuttles between Europe and the United States, plays on stage and performs in front of the camera and enjoys doing both very successfully.
He partly lives in Zurich with his wife and his two daughters.
