Rene Heger - Biography

Rene Heger is a German actor whose flawless flexibility between American / German accents provides the versatility to work between American and European markets. He stars in 3 upcoming independent films releasing in 2014. The first film, "Fort McCoy", opens wide in August from Spotlight Pictures and is based on a true story. Heger plays the Nazi SS Officer 'Werner', opposite Eric Stoltz ("Pulp Fiction"), Camryn Manheim ("Person of Interest"), and Seymour Cassel ("Rushmore"). Later in autumn, Rene plays a lead role opposite Julie Benz ("Dexter") in "The Circle". At the end of the year "The Humdrummer" releases, which won Rene 'Breakthrough Performance' at the 2013 Monaco Film Festival for his portrayal of a young father suffering from schizophrenia.

Heger made his film debut in the independent film "September Song", directed by renowned German writer/director Ulli Lommel. He would go on to play supporting roles in "Dallas 362" (directed by Scott Caan), Lionsgate's "In Enemy Hands" (William H. Macy, Til Schweiger), and "The Hillz" (James DeBello). Rene has made his way onto the small screen as well, appearing in high profile shows such as "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles", "The Agency", and "Gilmore Girls".

Rene was born in Karlsruhe, Germany and grew up in a small village near Heidelberg. He was pursuing a professional tennis career until the age of 17, when a lower back injury ended that endeavor. It was around then he joined a local theatre group ("Die Spur") and found his passion for acting. Soon thereafter he relocated to Los Angeles to fulfill his dream of starring on the silver screen, where he has been ever since. He graduated from the prestigious "Stella Adler Academy of Acting"- following in the footsteps of acting legends as Marlon Brando, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert DeNiro. Rene has been married since 2006 to theatre actress Emily Rosman. The couple have two daughters, Vivian Rose (stillborn August 11th 2011) and Ana Sophia (born October 28th 2013).
