Rhys Wyn Trenhaile - Biography

Career -- Rhys has recently completed a supporting role in NBC-Universal's upcoming The Scarehouse, and a Canadian-British co-production entitled The Santa Clause (where Rhys plays Santa's charming family doctor who may or may not have conducted heinous experiments on the Elves). Owing to his performance in the latter, Rhys has been cast both in the upcoming animated Blockbuster Magik starring 8 Academy Award Nominees and International Star Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as an upcoming British highly anticipated animated series Poppies Fields in a recurring role, alongside the likes of Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent.

Rhys' extensive training has included lengthy stints with Detroit's two pre-eminent acting coaches, Brian Lawrence and Christopher Bondy. The former employed heavy doses of Strasberg and Uta Hagen techniques, while the latter focused heavily on a more modern simplification of technique, improvisational, and character study. Lewis Baumander, a Toronto coach of note, has aided in scene study and audition preparation, intensive time spent with audition prep specialist Mark Baur, and several hundred hours dedicated to combat stage fighting with Canada's top fight director Dan Levinson.

Personal Life -- In a previous life Rhys was one of Canada's top track & field athletes, and when not working is found backpacking in some random country while scuba diving, learning the local language and indulging in its culture. He plays the cello badly and is busy creating/renovating a 31,000 square foot film & television incubation centre proudly housing an international Raindance Chapter.

Quotes -- "Rhys' is one of the few actors that has the presence of a lead with the quiet reservation of a character actor. I use him for many roles that require a sense of strength within the character which of course is crucial to any project." -- Stephen Wallis, Producer/Director Magik w/ Benedict Cumberbatch, Poppies Fields w/ Jim Broadbent.

"As a producer and filmmaker I have collaborated with Rhys Trenhaile on various productions over a period of 4 to 5 years. On each occasion I have always been impressed with Rhys' professionalism, hard work, and dedication; in particular, with regard to his dedication to improving his craft as an actor. During a production, Rhys is always very focused, takes direction well, and is accommodating to other actors and crew on set. However, despite the serious approach Rhys takes to his craft and his profession, Rhys mercifully doesn't take himself too seriously, which under conditions that usually involve a lot of stress, long hours, hard work, and never enough time nor money, Rhys' not taking himself too seriously makes it a joy and a pleasure to collaborate with him on film and television productions. As such, I look forward to working with Rhys again in the near future" -- Sean McConville, Producer/Director Deadline w/ Brittany Murphy.
