Sam Coleman - Biography

Sam Coleman (born in 1996 on the 26th of September in High Wycombe, England as Samuel Joseph Coleman) is an actor, atheist and poet, known for his role as 'Bud' in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, Leatherface (2016).

Sam was shy as a child but began to gain confidence with the help of the local theatre groups his mother encouraged him to go to. As he grew older, acting became more and more of a passion for Sam, a passion which flourished at Jacqueline Fox's School of Dance in Worle, Somerset where he attended an acting, singing and dancing class every Saturday and performed in their local musicals and showcases.

When Sam was 13, he moved to Bexhill-on-Sea. Here, keen to continue his passion for acting, he joined up with the East Sussex School of Performing Arts where he gained his level 5-8 L.A.M.D.A acting awards as well as an A* in GCSE Drama and Theatre Studies and, more importantly, experience in many of E.S.S.P.A's shows. Soon after finding his feet in Bexhill, Sam came across local performing arts teacher and star of the UK tour of Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, Adam Hepkin. With Adam, Sam gained more valuable experience in various musicals and concerts performed in the local area. As well as this Adam also taught Sam many valuable techniques and skills which led Sam to turn performing from a hobby into a possible career choice. As a result of this, Sam decided, a month before his 18th birthday, to join his local East-Sussex based agency, Madfish Management. Soon Sam was offered an audition for the feature film "Leatherface" (2016) where, thanks to two smooth auditions and the agency's hard work, he was then cast as one of the lead roles, "Bud", one of the three characters who might eventually grow up to become Leatherface.

Since then Sam has gone on to further heights, securing other top jobs, gaining a top, London based agent and finding more routes and opportunities to share his passion for acting with the world.

Another passion of Sam's, which manifested alongside his passion for acting, was poetry. From around the age of 12, Sam began writing songs and rhymes as an off-shoot from his musical theatre endeavours and as he grew older, this developed into a passion for writing poetry. As Sam's poetry gained quality, he began entering it into poetry competitions which, upon gaining commendations and prizes, alerted Sam to the fact that he might actually be quite good at it.

One of Sam's other hobbies as a child and early teen, another branch from his passion for performing, was magic and mentalism. Like any magic-loving child, Sam was delighted by various kits and props each Christmas which he learned and duly performed to his family a tad repetitively. But one of the most important aspects of this hobby to Sam's development as a person came about due partly to one of Sam's biggest inspirations and heroes, Derren Brown. As Sam developed his knowledge of magic, specifically the psychology behind mentalism, hypnotism and illusion, Sam began to develop critical thinking skills and realised (with the help of Derren's books and the writings of other prominent magicians such as Penn and Teller) the fallacies and lack of scientific credibility behind religious and pseudo-scientific beliefs.

As a keen piano-hobbyist, Sam also fell in love with the satirical works of another of his heroes, Tim Minchin. This aided Sam's new views on life which eventually led him to grow into an assured and vocally active atheist. To this day, Sam is proud to be openly secular.
