Sarah Murphy-Dyson - Biography

Sarah Murphy-Dyson was a professional ballet dancer for many years and performed all over the world, mostly as a First Soloist with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, one of Canada's premiere companies. Sarah was lucky enough to work with Phillip Seymour Hoffman on Capote and it changed her career path. The next season she retired from the ballet, got an agent in Vancouver, and started studying acting full time. That was, until she was cast in the North American premiere of Dirty Dancing (Mirvish) which brought her to Toronto. She performed over 400 shows, as Penny Johnson and as a featured dancer. Since then, Sarah has continued her studies with Michael Riley, David Rotenberg and Rae Ellen Bodie and can be seen regularly on stage and screen. She has starred in four World Premieres of renowned playwright George F. Walker, and in her own show, The Naked Ballerina which she plans to make into a film, and for which she has won several awards. Sarah has appeared on such shows as Rookie Blue, The Next Step, and as Isabelle's ballet teacher in the recent American Girl movie. She is also a regular on Precious Chong (daughter of Tommy Chong)'s Canadian Comedy Award nominated web series, Sex and the Single Parent. She won a Gemini Award a long time ago, and has worked as a stunt double for Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale and Jaime King. Sarah is represented by Stephanie Nakamura at AMI. She lives in Toronto and still takes, teaches, and coaches ballet when she can.
