Shane started his film career when he was just 12-yrs-old playing Clint Eastwood's son in Impitoyable (1992). He got a chance to play his childhood idol on television by playing "Young MacGyver" for a number of episodes of MacGyver (1985). He was flown to LA by Steven Spielberg to audition for Hook ou la revanche du Capitaine Crochet (1991).
Shane has appeared alongside Ed Harris, Chuck Norris, Max von Sydow, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Stockard Channing.
He is the second of three boys from parents John Meier and Jane Weir. His brothers names are Ash and Travis Meier.
