Shannon K. Dunn - Biography
Shannon took a 10-year hiatus from acting to concentrate on writing and has recently started reviving her acting career! She now splits her time between her homes in California and Colorado and runs a licensing/media company that is now expanding into production as well.
For her first comeback role, she was thrilled to be cast in a feature film, "Decay" as the Neighborhood Gossip and was cast as the Viking Opera Singer in a National Coke Zero commercial. Booking these two roles confirmed that her passion for performing hasn't died.
She has sold 3 short films and has optioned two of her feature films. She is currently negotiating to publish the book she wrote, "Kissing Frogs" about her bad/funny/odd/unbelievable internet dates (it's also a TV sit-com pilot). Most of the scripts she writes are simply to "Ben and Matt" herself by writing supporting roles specifically for her (never the lead). She finds playing characters is the most fun and allows for more creative expression. Although comedy is her first love, two of the scripts she has sold have been dramas!
"Writing means I am constantly editing/revising. It's never perfect and I don't think I want anything to be absolutely perfect to be honest. Giving actors the freedom to improvise with my dialogue is awesome as long as they don't screw up the beats (for comedy) but get the words to come across naturally."
