Shawn Turner is an African American , Jamaican and Canadian actor and producer who was born South of Orlando , FLA to the Mother of Annette Turner (a professional CPA ) and Donat Sr. (who's grandfather traveled from Egypt to the Caribbean Islands ) . As a Teen , he participated in various sports, student government and realized he wanted to act after performing the prom king of his school's production of D.A.R.E and the Lion King and frequent trips to New York City . While , in New York , Shawn booked a McDonald's commercial . He also worked with minorities at risk at a Harlem , NY YMCA facility .
