Silvia Mathis Manning - Biography

Silvia graduated with honors from Auburn Performing Arts High School in Rockford, Illinois. She made her professional stage debut, already possessing a 3.5 octave vocal range and a soaring soprano voice at the age of twelve, in the Latin Operetta "Noyee's Fludde" starring as Mrs. Jaffe.

Summers during High School were spent, working at fast food restaurants and honing her skills in College productions of Pirates of Penzance, The King and I, Stock Theater, etc. She attended Roosevelt University with a double major in Music/Theater After a disastrous stint in Los Angeles, she headed for New York City where she immediately landed modeling jobs and small movie roles, including "The Last Dragon".

After a 12th call back, a starring role was written for her by the great Broadway Director Ed Shernin for the off-Broadway Production of "The Me Nobody Knows" which also starred Tisha Campbell and Kia Joy Goodwin.

A move back to Chicago led to a stint as the lead singer of the Chicago girl band "The Chicago Collectibles", and record deal with Godiva records as well as a supporting roles in several Independent Films including, "The Perfect Model" with Stoney Jackson and Reggie Theus, and "How U Like Me Now?" with Salli Richardon and Darnell Williams.

A previous guest starring role on Walker Texas Ranger impressed CBS Network Executives so much that they created an untitled series spin-off around her character, Alfree Grimes. The pilot episode was titled "A Woman's Place". In spite of not being picked up by the Network, this talented, stunning and gifted actress has not slowed down.

A veteran of the independent film circuit and formerly based in Dallas, Texas, Mathis Manning starred in such festival favorites as Me and the Angels, Sweet Hideaway, The Bottom Line, The Perfect Model, How You Like Me Now, and Screen Door Jesus.

As a songwriter, Mathis Manning garnered a Gold Record for Quiet Time on Columbia Records, which she Co-Wrote for multi-platinum artist, Regina Belle. As a singer, she has sung background for Pattie Labelle, Gospel Superstar Donnie Mc Klurkin, Mom and Pop Winans and others.

Silvia is not only an accomplished actress, singer and songwriter, she is also a skilled screenwriter and producer. While living in Los Angeles she starred alongside her twin daughters in the sitcom pilot, City Girls for UPN which she also Executive Produced and Co-Authored. A move from Los Angeles to Atlanta in 2007 proved beneficial both professionally and personally. Silvia not only married the love of her life in the person of fellow actor Mitchell Manning, but also made a return to the theatre in several leading roles including starring as Dana Perry in the acclaimed 'Prodigal Daughter'. The TV pilots Bromies, Among Brothers, and Background are also among her ATL credits.

Silvia is starring in the Indie Feature Film 'Assent' which will begin filming in January 2016.
