Stephen Gregory - Biography

The youngest of seven children, Stephen Gregory was raised in New York, where he attended Catholic school through the 12th grade. He began NYU's film program but left to pursue acting, studying with Stella Adler and Roy London before securing a part on the soap opera As the World Turns (1956). Then, after appearing in the film The Heavenly Kid (1985), he moved to Los Angeles, where he guest-starred on such shows as Hôpital St. Elsewhere (1982), Star Trek: La nouvelle génération (1987), Texas police (1987) and NBC's You Can't Take It with You (1987). Then, after a three-year contract on Les feux de l'amour (1973), Stephen left acting and began a media consulting and production company in Los Angeles. A producer on New York - Unité spéciale (1999) remembered him, however, and was able to lure him before the cameras once again. He now has a recurring role as Dr. Beresford on "Law and Order: SVU" and splits his time between New York and Los Angeles.
