Sterling K. Brown - Biography

Sterling Brown was born in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended the prestigious St. Louis Country Day School. An avid thespian during his high school years, Brown attributes Milton Zoth, with first sparking his love for acting. He then attended Stanford University where he earned his B.A. in Drama, and finally the Graduate Acting program at NYU where he received his MFA. His original intention was to be an economics major at Stanford, and only changed his major at the beginning of his junior year. He had been gently encouraged in this direction by his mentor Harry J. Elam, Jr. Professor Elam directed Brown in his first play at Stanford, August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, and later in his first professional play, Blues for an Alabama Sky. Upon completion of graduate school, Brown worked steadily in the world of regional theater, and occasionally in film and television. Still in the infancy of his career, he still relishes opportunities to perform on stage, and looks forward to furthering his career in front of the camera. His is a voice that you shall be hearing for a long time to come.
