Sue Barker - Biography

Began her career as a professional tennis player when she moved to the USA in 1973. In 1976 she won the French Open Championship, her only Grand Slam title. However, following recurring injuries and loss of form, she retired in 1985, and after a short hiatus began her broadcasting career in Australia, before the BBC recognised her ability. In 2000 she was awarded the MBE for services to tennis and broadcasting.
