Toby grew up in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and spent his younger years as a competitive swimmer from the age of 5, later attending Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, where he continued his involvement in competitive swimming. As Captain of the Boilermaker Swimming and Diving Team in his Senior Year, Toby was part of the 400-yard relay team that qualified for the state meet. He was also actively involved in Kankakee Area Youth for Christ. Upon graduation from high school, Toby enrolled at Northern Illinois University, where he swam for the NIU Huskies and studied marketing, but after five semesters, he changed his major to acting. NIU is known worldwide for its outstanding acting program, led by Kathryn Gatley. After graduating from NIU, Toby performed in theatre in Dublin, Ireland, then moved to Los Angeles where he resides today. His parents are Gary and Arlene Moore, and he has a younger brother Travis and younger sister Tara Beth.
