Tonia Cathrine Nee was born in Boston, USA to Maeve Nee (care assistant) and Stephen Nee (painter). She is of Irish descent. At 16 years of age, Tonia and her family moved to Galway, Ireland, her mom and dad's birthplace. Although in the middle of her studies at Boston Latin School High School (BLS), in America, Tonia moved and continued her academic studies in Ireland. After graduating high school (secondary school in Ireland) Tonia attended Galway Institute of Technology and completed her FETAC Award in Media Production, TV Radio & Film with distinctions. At the age of 19, Tonia moved to Durham, UK to attend University and study Podiatric Medicine. During University Tonia worked part-time in a bar for three years. After graduating from University with a 2:1, it was a year of working full-time as a bartender/waitress to save enough money to move to London, UK, where Tonia would expand her career in acting.
Along with acting Tonia is also an Irish Dancer. Tonia has over 13 years of international competitive Irish dancing experience at National/World Championships level. Irish dancing awards include Oireachtas Regional Championships, North American Irish Dancing Championships, and World Championships. Other dance skills include Hip-Hop/Street. Tonia has performed on stage with multiple artists/ DJs around Ireland between the years of 2006-2010.
