Tracy Pfau was born in Hollywood and raised in Arcadia, California, but spent every summer in Ellensburg, Washington, on her grandparents' horse ranch. Her uncle Jack and aunt "Smoke" supplied horses for James Arness and the rest of the Gunsmoke (1955) cast. Her mom and dad motored down to Hollywood on their honeymoon in 1949. Her dad later became a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge appointed by then Governor Ronald Reagan. Her mom took a job at Los Angeles television station KHJ. Tracy has two sisters who are teachers in Los Angeles and her brother Paul is a district attorney and retired mountain climber of the highest mountains in the world. Tracy has been happily married to actor/writer Stephen Jared for 12 years. They spend their time together in their California bungalow in Pasadena. They have a little dog, Riley, and a cat named Capra.
