Umit Ulgen - Biography

Actor/Photographer Umit Ulgen was born in Ankara. In his early years he grew up in Bulgaria small town near Ruse called Slivo Pole. His mothers home town. His father is a retired Journalists, quite a famous one of his time. Often covered international stories of politicians and worked with the likes of Ismet Inonu and other famous politicians. Umit moved to UK in 1989. He established himself as a fine art photographer after completing his media production degree course in Devon, University of Plymouth. He sold his works via galleries to private collectors and he has won many awards for his photography and printing. He photographed likes of Rutger Hauer, Christopher Lee, Tamer Hassan, Danny Dyer, Lenny Henry for various charity projects. It was actually Rutger Hauer suggested that he should try acting which the idea he dismissed at that time. However Tamer Hassan's film set he found himself in the middle of a pub brawl. The acting bug had been caught from that moment. Few years Umit spent on films sets as an background artist to watch the actors and crew and tried to learn as much as he can but same time he worked on many projects, short films to gain experience. Umit had worked with Ridley Scott on Exodus where he had small role playing the Fisherman who witnesses one of the deadly plaques. He also work with the Vera star David Leon, in Orthodox. Aappearing along side of Graham Jones and young but talented Giacomo Mancini. He also completed The Forbidden Note playing the main antagonist directed by a young and very talented director Callum Johnston. Umit is now attached to The Estate, directed by Freddy Frost Junior.
