Yolandi Franken was born in South Africa and relocated to Australia in 2006. She currently lives in Sydney with Jacques, her husband and their 2 Labrador dogs.
When it comes to TV shows and Films Yolandi doesn't have a preference in genre. She likes anything from love stories to action and sci-if. Her favorite music is 30 seconds to Mars and dance music including Red Foo. Basically, she is a model, an actress, a filmmaker and a title holder of some prestigious Australian and International beauty pageants. Yolandi Franken has worked in these fields all her life and worked on some large productions as well as a number of small ones. She is interested in film, fashion, modeling, acting, presenting, health and fitness and public speaking.
In 2006, she immigrated to Australia to push through her career as a freelance producer who features short films, corporate videos, short films, and music videos. She accomplished her Screen Diploma in Australia. This is to guarantee that she would be educated on all rules, standards, regulations, and laws in Australia.
She has been involved in different TV commercial productions in which she had support and leading roles. Some of them include Radio Rentals, Kotex, Cultrate Plus, McDonalds, and Nude by Nature. In 2014 she was a finalist in Mrs. Australia and from there became Mrs. Globe Australasia 2014 and Mrs. Multiverse Australia 2015.
Yolandi has given the opportunity to join a competition which is focused on raising funds and awareness for ovarian cancer. In an interview, she revealed that she had cancer cells taken away from her cervix. Her treatment lasted for two years and finally, it was cleared a few months ago.
Ovarian cancer is the type of cancer that has affected numerous women in Australia and across the world. It does not have early detection tests. Yolandi revealed some early warning signs of ovarian cancer. These include unexplained pelvic or abdominal pain, feeling full quickly, difficulty in eating, need to urinate urgently or often, persistent bloating, and increased abdominal size. Each year, there are over 1200 Australian women who are being diagnosed with this form of cancer and about eight hundred of them die. In addition, about 75 percent of these women have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at an advanced stage. It means that the cancer has also spread and it quite difficult to treat it successfully.
She had been fundraising for health issues of women before. But after being one of the finalists in such national competition, she came up with a huge platform. Yolandi said that she does not only aim to raise fund but she wants to raise cancer awareness by being cautious of the particular symptoms and signs that are usually ignored.
In addition, she was also a part of Cause Film Festival wherein Yolandi is the festival director. She has been a great supporter if several charities and she highly values helping other persons in her community. For her, the greatest approach in helping other people is to make their aware of certain situations. Pure awareness is also strong prevention against any adversity. In the Cause Film Festival, any cause will be treated equally. It allows submission of feature films, short films or skits.
The Mrs. Australia Quest has been introduced for all women (all backgrounds, ages, sizes and shapes) to be confident enough in participating and raise ovarian cancer awareness to the world.
2014 has also seen Yolandi take part in one of the most prestigious beauty contests for married women across the world, Mrs. Globe. 50 contestants from different countries participated in Shenzhen, China for the crown. Although Mrs. South Africa was chosen as Mrs. Globe for this year, Yolandi still feels like a winner and says that the experience and friendships formed is more than what she ever could have dreamed of. Contestants participated in a variety of photo shoots, charity events and rehearsals during their 10 day stay in China.
The Mrs. Globe organization is also partnered with the W.I.N Foundation which assists women in need and this charitable organization is one of the main focuses of Mrs. Globe. All finalists are given the opportunity to be a spokeswoman for the W.I.N Foundation, principled by Dr. Tracy Kemble.
Yolandi is on her way to face another challenge that will show her wit, beauty and personality. Again, she will be one of the forty lovely contestants for Mrs. Multiverse 2015. Currently, she has public Facebook page to show and share her amazing experiences as one of the finalists. In this page, she posts different pictures and ideas that enlighten people about her platform. This is also a way of encouraging them to participate in her ultimate goal for all women across the globe.
Miss Australia Multiverse will be participated by international super models and beauty queens who have their ultimate goals and mission to accomplish. It is a special opportunity for these women to showcase their beauty and talent while proclaiming what they can do to help other people worldwide. Yolandi is known for being passionate about the film making process. She started her career after schooling when she worked at the production company in South Africa, Johannesburg.
From there she started work as a production assistant and later, as a production manager and producer in distinct companies and SABC network. Most of the productions she works on are music videos, TV series, TV commercials, Feature Films, Short Films and the occasional corporate videos.
She assisted directors with getting the right resources they needed to come up with more creative outputs. She is confident enough about her ability to work with and understand distinct personalities. Yolandi greatly values her experiences both in front and behind the camera. She believes in the power of team work as well as showing respect to the crew and cast who works towards one goal.
At present, she is focused on her fund raising platforms and her career. She aims for more opportunities to serve Australia and the world.
Since the test of time, Yolandi has been modeling for many advertising companies, print ads and catwalk shows. She never gets tired of striking various poses, changing outfits from time to time and smiling at the camera because this is what she loves to do.
